Interview with Annabel Dimmock
Catching up with Annabel Dimmock
Golf, diamonds and fashion… it’s all in a day’s work for one of the coolest characters on Tour.
Annabel… you won your first title last year, at the Jabra Ladies Open in France. What happened after that?
I played five weeks in a row and I was working really hard in the gym and really motivated after my win, but I worked too hard and put my back out. I had a back injury before so I have to be a bit careful. I wasn’t looking after myself well enough whilst I was away and there was a lot of bad weather and delays, which didn’t help.
How are you feeling now?
I’m fully fit. I’m looking forward to playing as much as possible.
What would you like to achieve this year?
I definitely want to get another win. I also want to contend in majors, because that would be the next step of learning for me.
How do you balance time spent on golf practise with the demands of your sponsors and from social media?
When I’m practising I generally don’t go on my phone, unless I’m having a break. I will practise for an hour-and-a half and then I’ll have a 10 minute break. It’s good to use social media to support your sponsors and I’ve got a new sponsor, Odendaal Diamonds, so I’ve been posting about that recently.
You are also known for your love of fashion.
Yes. Adidas have got some really cool clothes this year and I’ve just had a new drop of clothing, so I’m excited about that! Fashion is very important to me and when I’m at home, my main focus is on what I’m going to wear and where I’m going. I like going out to bars where I can dress up but wear cool trainers and handbags. Most of my handbags were stolen the other day because I was staying at my friend’s house for a few days and I had all my designer handbags, shoes and jewellery in my car and everything was stolen… apart from my golf clubs! I’m trying to earn money at the moment to buy more handbags and rebuild the collection.
