The Isle of Man: Find a Perfect Work Life Balance

Helen Crosbie and her family moved to the Isle of Man from France in 2016. She is making the most of Island life whilst working on a new business venture and continuing to follow her passion for golf.

The Isle of Man is situated in the heart of the Irish Sea. The Island is a UNESCO biosphere of natural beauty and space to thrive. It’s well connected, easily accessible and offers a range of financial incentives. If you have never heard of the Island or you’ve considered visiting but not quite got round to it, now is the time.

The Isle of Man is home to some of the finest golf courses in the British Isles, with eight unique and challenging courses that can be played all year round and can all be reached within a 20 minute drive. The Links courses offer a different challenge in all seasons and stunning scenery. Helen is a member at Castletown Links, on the south of the Island, which features in the Rolex World rankings.

Helen, her husband Mike moved to the Isle of Man five years ago from France. Having lived in France for 15 years, it was a big move, but one that’s paid off: “I can honestly say I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else in the world now. Since moving to the Island, we’ve finally found the work family life balance we had been dreaming of.”

Helen’s interest in golf was a great way for her to connect with the community and make friends. “I’ve been very lucky to make some wonderful new friends through the golf club. The course is really sociable and there is always somebody to have a round with.” Golf has also become a part of her children’s life too, the whole family can enjoy it together. “The golf pro at Castletown has been a fantastic support and also runs a junior golf academy so the children are now enjoying golf too.”

Helen and family are settled into Island living, and have no regrets about making the move. “Living in the Isle of Man has meant we’ve easily become part of a community – not just the village where we live but the school, the golf club and the Island as a whole. We’ve made some wonderful friends and knowing that our children are growing up in such a safe and positive environment has been the greatest opportunity of all.”
