Ladies, What Are You Waiting For? Tewkesbury Park’s Transformation Is Complete

Picking up the newspaper on a Sunday morning is one of life’s more pleasant experiences, yet not usually a dramatic one. But in early October 2019, the team at Tewkesbury Park could hardly wait for the local newsagents to open.

And there it was in black and white: Tewkesbury Park – one of the UK’s top destinations for female-friendly golf breaks – had made the Top 100 British Hotels list as named by The Sunday Times, the country’s highest-circulating quality newspaper.

There are approximately 45,000 hotels in Great Britain. How did this secluded, family-owned 93-bedroom golf resort in a small Gloucestershire town beat almost all of them, not only to make the Top 100, but also to become one of only four golf hotels to make the list – on a par with the world-famous Gleneagles Hotel?

Speaking in 2024, Claire White, Tewkesbury Park’s Commercial Director and a member of the McIntosh Family, who bought the hotel in 2014, comments: “It’s been an absolutely incredible 10 years and we’re all immensely proud of what’s been achieved with the help of our fabulous team.

After a £13m facelift, Tewkesbury Park is now rated as one of the UK’s top golf resorts, and many more awards have arrived alongside The Sunday Times ranking over the years. In 2023, the hotel was named the UK and Ireland’s best Meetings & Conference venue by luxury publishers Conde Nast Johansens, having previously also won their awards for Best for Weddings, Parties or Special Occasions, and Best for Furry Friends.
